Supporting children centers and operating Korean language schools in multicultural neighborhoods, the company is providing opportunities to receive Korean language education and experience Korean culture.

Completion of Fish Hatchery & Release of Baby Fish
KOMIPO's Boryeong Power Generation Site Division invested ₩6.7 billion over 18 months to construct a fish hatchery comprised of 38 tanks on a total area of 2,600m2. Recycling the hot wastewater discharged from its power plants, the hatchery cultures baby fish and baby seacell, producing and releasing over 700,000 of each annually. With the hot wastewater, the hatchery not only reduces energy expenditures and brings about a 275-ton GHG emission reduction effect annually but also contributes significantly to the income growth of fishermen.
Donation of Organs for Life Sharing of Love
For dissemination of a life-sharing practice culture, the Seocheon Power Generation Site Division and the Jeonbuk Branch of Korea Organ Donation Center decided to implement joint campaigns and exchange activities. Under the program, 70 executives and employees took an oath promising to donate nine organs, including heart, liver and pancreas, upon their brain death or death. KOMIPO is endeavoring to take the lead in expanding opportunities to provide new life to patients through unconditional, pure sharing and noble activities, so-called 'donation of organs,' and in disseminating an organ donation culture, 'a seed of hope,' in the future.
Support of Light Vehicles for Boryeong Senior Welfare Center
KOMIPO has donated light vehicles to the Boryeong Senior Welfare Center to help elderly persons in the region there who experience inconvenience in getting around. The donated light vehicles can be operated smoothly in narrow alleys and so can be utilized efficiently for such activities as delivery of lunch boxes and visiting services. For alienated classes requiring a helping hand, KOMIPO will continue to promote diverse social contribution activities in the future.
Overseas Social Contribution Activities
Construction of KOMIPO Schools
KOMIPO started overseas businesses in Indonesia for the first time among power companies in Korea. In Indonesia, the company also is conducting local-friendly social contribution activities for a sustainable future, not just creating short-term profit there. In this context, the company has promoted 'KOMIPO School Construction Project' in regional Indonesian communities. As of December 2013, it had built three KOMIPO Schools in Indonesia in order for students and teachers to grow their dreams while delivering 'Happy Energy' to the citizens in related areas.
1:1 Sisterhood Relationship Between KOMIPO & Indonesian Students
To become strong supporters and friends of Indonesian children striving to realize their own dreams, KOMIPO has concluded sisterhood relationships with the students of KOMIPO Schools and communities near its power plants starting in 2016 and is supporting them. The funds and goods supported by KOMIPO and its executives & employees are being used for education, health & welfare, environmental improvements, etc.
Construction of Small Hydropower Plants for Energy Self-Reliance
Cipta Celar is a mountain village, about 100km from Indonesia's capital Jakarta, that had been alienated from society until recently. The residents of the village have been living on the resources found in the mountain area of Halimun Salak National Park in Bogor County since 1368.
With the designation of Halimun Salak National Park as a forest protection area, the village was unable to receive SOC facility support, while its competitiveness also declined due to inferior market accessibility. In reality, therefore, this was naturally like a vicious circle of insufficient financial resources, low income level, difficulties in obtaining information, low educational level, etc.
Against this backdrop, KOMIPO delivered a special light to this small village where darkness and poverty had been deeply rooted. This special and new light is brightening a hope-filled, more convenient future.
