The
Seocheon Thermal Power Plant, located on
the southwestern edge of Chungcheongnam-do,
is the plant constructed on the purpose
of using domestic anthracite coal of low
calories.
Two generators with the capacity of total
400MW have been operating since it's completion
in 1983, and are now operating by combusting
the mixture of domestic anthracite coal
and bituminous coal due to the shortage
of the domestic anthracite coal.
The plant is also an environmentally-friendly
power plant without pollution, which is
furnished with nitrogen oxide reduction
facilities and flue gas de-sulphurization
facilities. It is recognized for it's excellence
in operation, such as the accomplishment
of a 500 day long term trouble free operation
for Unit No.2 in 2007, and its achievement
of the 13 times that it reached its target
of zero accidents (4, 892 days) in 2008.
A renewable energy theme park will be constructed
in 2008, and a large scaled solar photovoltaic
power generation plant, where the reduction
of carbon dioxide of 1,000 tons annually
is expected, will be installed in the Seocheon
Thermal Power Plant, resulting in new tourist
attractions in the region in connection
with the beautiful natural scenery of the
West Sea. |
