Status of Power Generation Equipment     Status of power plant construction

In order to meet an ever-growing domestic power demand and secure reliable future revenues, we are considering a continuous expansion of facilities under the basic power supply plan by the government.

With the recent spike in power demand, a total of 2,548MW new plants construction have been launched and are expected to be completed by 2011. We are also planning to increase the current capacity of 9,004.7MW up to 14,636MW by 2016 through measures such as prolonging the life of older facilities that are to be shut down.

Construction of the Seoul Combined-Cycle Thermal and Underground Power Plant to Transform Itself into a Green Energy Park

The Seoul Thermal Power Plant, Korea's first thermal power plant, will be transformed into a new underground combined-cycle plant in 2012 when its life expectancy expires. As the sole power station located in the city of Seoul, with about a population of ten million, this will become an integral part in providing electricity to the capital region where much of the power demand is required.
