| For KOMIPO,
fuel for power generation is a very large part of
our operation, taking up about 70% of the total
corporate costs. Therefore, it is crucial for us
to timely secure fuel in running facilities in a
stable and economically feasible way. For Korea,
which is particularly short on natural resources,
is highly dependent on imported commodities and
hikes in fuel prices accompanied by increased prices
of commodities, pose a threat to the power generation
industry. |
| |
| Amid efforts, to secure
fuel for power generation in a reliable and economically
feasible way, KOMIPO has worked to diversify the
procurement percentage for each nation, to branch
out the suppling lines and to maintain an adequate
level of long-term contract percentage. We have
also forged and put forth measures for strategic
fuel control such as increasing the efficiency for
transporting fuel, and the push for development
of overseas underground resources. |

| Introducing Status for Bituminous Coal |
| |
| Bituminous coal makes
up a great deal of KOMIPO's fuel. Over 80% of one
or more years of the long term contract percentage
has been maintained and also chartered or long term
contracted ships that are being employed for conveying
the coal are kept at levels of more than 80%. Furthermore,
in an attempt to curb the instability of securing
fuel as a result of deteriorated supplying condition
in certain areas, KOMIPO has pushed ahead with the
diversification of soft coal carrying lines and
as part of that effort, expanded the long term soft
coal providers of up to 21 in 2007 from 15 in 2006. |
