| Atmospheric
environmental materials emitted from the power plants,
are sulphur oxide (SOx), nitrogen oxide (NOx), and
dust. Our company is eliminating more than 90% of
the environmental materials by installing state-of-the-art
de-sulphurization facilities, de-nitrification facilities,
and electric precipitators. |

Sulphur oxide (SOx) |
| |

Sulphur oxide
is formed by the combustion of sulphur content,
included in the fuel, and being combusted
in the boiler. Our company eliminates sulfur
oxide perfectly, by installing flue gasde-sulphurization
facilities(FGD) in the coal thermal power
plants, and the power plants using LNG, a
clean fuel, which generates little sulphur
oxide. |

| Nitrogen oxide (NOx) |
| |
| Nitrogen oxide
is formed by the combination of combustible
air originating in the boiler of thermal power
plants or nitrogen content in the fuel with
oxygen. The higher the combustion temperature
is, the more the quantity to be formed increases.
Our company is operating low NOx combustion
facilities, such as flue gas re-circulation
facilities and low NOx burners in the boiler,
in order to reduce the emissions of nitrogen
oxide. We are also making endeavors to reduce
nitrogen oxide remarkably and to make comfortable
atmospheric environments by installing flue
gas de-nitrification facilities (SCR: Selective
Catalytic Reduction) in thermal power plants
located in Boryeong, Inche on, Seoul and Jeju. |

Ash content and non-combusted
components contained in fuel, are changed into dust
(combusted ash). However, our company is minimizing
the dust emissions by installing high performance
electric precipitators (thermal power: higher than
99.5%, heavy fuel oil: higher than 80%) in thermal
power plants, and power plants in the metropolitan
area, including Seoul and Incheon. The combined
cycle thermal power plant in Boryeong, emit minimal
dust since clean fuel (LNG) is being used. |

| Conservation of water quality environment |

| The company is reutilizing
or discharging the waste water after being completely
treated by installing integrated waste water treatment
facilities that collect all water originating during
operation of the facility. It also carries out physical
and chemical treatments. |

| The company is continuously
measuring and monitoring the status of pollutant
emissions in order to prevent the surrounding regions
from damage caused by the emission of pollutants.
It enables not only to make remote monitoring of
the pollutants of all power plants but also to analyze
the impact on the surrounding environment by connecting
the plants online. |
