Jeju Power Generation Site Division started to take charge of stable power supply in Jeju Island by completing a 10 MW steam power plant in November 1982. Now, with a total capacity of 482 MW, it covers about 32.7% power consumption in Jeju. As the largest power supply complex in Jeju Island, Jeju P.G. Site Div. has a variety of facilities, including a steam power plant that succeeded in the world’s first operation of pure bioheavy oil combustion, the first LNG combined cycle power plant in Jeju, as well as internal combustion engine, photovoltaics, and wind power (Sangmyeong Wind Farm). Awards and activities

• Zero-hazard plant through cooperation and communication

  As of 2022, Jeju P.G. Site Div. is making efforts to create the workplace based on autonomy, cooperation, communication and safety in order to make the plants without five issues―disasters, malfunctions, environment-related civil complaints, abuse of power, and security. By establishing a people-centered and field-focused safety management system, Jeju P.G. Site Div. not only positions itself as a zero-hazard workplace but also contributes the stabilization of power system of the Jeju region by securing reliability of its generation facility, leading ESG management through eco-friendly generation that goes hand in hand.

  

  

• Clean plant as a pioneer in new renewable energy

  Jeju P.G. Site Div. made the world’s first success in the empirical project that replaced BC oil with bioheavy oil in its steam power plant, achieving the effect of GHG reduction by 270,000 tonnes per year for each unit. In addition, Sangmyeong Wind Farm (3 MW x 7 units) that was completed in Geumak-ri, Hallim-eup in August 2016, as well as Seongeup PV Plant (999.6 kW x 2 units) in October 2021, Jeju P.G. Site Div. is actively contributing to the production of renewable energy. It also completed the nation’s first green hydrogen (P2G) production facility based on wind power generation, playing a pivotal role as a public company to lead the hydrogen economy and accomplish Korea’s Green.

  

  

  

  

  

• Awards and designation

  After being designated as the first eco-friendly company in Jeju Island in 2003, Jeju P.G. Site Div. was also designated as a Green Enterprise in 2014 and an Excellent Clean System Operator by the Ministry of In 2020, it was awarded the grand prize at the Global Green Management Awards, proving itself as a leader in the green energy industry. It has also been acknowledged its active efforts in environmental improvement as it has been designated as the first and only green enterprise in Jeju Island for 19 years.

• Social values based on win-win partnership

  Jeju P.G. Site Div. not only runs a scholarship program for local students and educational materials to improve the local educational environment, but also executes talent sharing activities by staff members, including environment classes and Bitnuri volunteers. It also started a discount for tumbler users to cut the use of disposable items, contributed part of the profits of Jeju National University PV Plant (a total of KRW 450 million from 2013 to 2027) for the development fund of the university, and has operated “Maker Space” in partnership with the LINC+ Project Team of Jeju National University to support startups It collaborates with local farms through win-win programs for rural areas to lead local economic revitalization by creating jobs, and more. In 2021, it was selected as a volunteer-friendly company as it was recognized for its contribution through works of benevolence, including that of Bitnuri volunteers that replaced deteriorated lights in the residential environment of the elderly living alone with LED lamps and the Meal Kit Food Bank which local small businesses also participated.

  

  

  

  Jeju P.G. Site Div. is operating a scholarship program, an educational environment improvement program, and a talent-sharing program. It also takes lead in social contribution activities, including kimchi-making for the vulnerable and sharing abalone rice porridge with the elderly. It contributed part of the profits of Jeju National University PV Plant (a total of KRW 450 million from 2013 to 2027) for the development fund of the university and has operated “Maker Space” in partnership with the LINC+ Project Team of Jeju National University to support startups In addition, it is striving to boost local economy through various ways, including operating Living Lab (SAL Lab with KOMIPO) in partnership with a social cooperative that revives deserted houses in Jeju.
